Jam Of The Week Special // 5 Jams From 2013

5 jams from 2013

What a year 2013 has turned out to be for the music industry. From Miley to Beyoncé, Kanye to Thicke this year has seen some incredible releases. At Plain Audacious we’ve been bringing you the best new music every Monday with our Jam of the Week feature and in this article we’ll be looking back at five of our favourite Jams from 2013.

5. Disclosure feat Eliza Doolittle // You & Me

Number five on our list is a gorgeous collaboration between Disclosure and Eliza Doolittle. We loved You & Me’s house music meets garage style giving it a well deserved fifth spot on our list.

You & Me took the Jam of the Week crown in April 2013.

4. Lorde // Royals

Royals was a fabulous Jam of the Week by 17-year-old pop princess Lorde. The New Zealander took the charts by storm in the latter half of the year reaching number one in the singles chart ahead of the hugely successful launch of her début album Pure Heroine.

Royals took the Jam of the Week crown in October 2013.

3. Haim // The Wire

Taking spot number three on our run-down is Haim with their single The Wire. The BBC Sound of 2013 winners released their fantastic début album Days Are Gone earlier in the year and The Wire turned out to be one of the album’s stand out tracks.

The Wire took the Jam of the Week crown in September 2013.

2. Bastille // Of The Night

Number two on our list is occupied by one of the biggest bands of the year. Following the success of Bastille’s album Bad Blood the band went on to release one of the best covers of 2013. Of The Night samples two great songs from the nineties, 1992′s Rhythm Is A Dancer by Snap! and 1993′s Rhythm Of The Night by Corona.

Of The Night took the Jam of the Week crown in October 2013.

1. Paramore // Ain’t It Fun

Taking the number one spot is a track from Paramore’s brilliant self-titled fourth album. Ain’t It Fun is easily one of the best tracks Paramore have ever recorded. The track features Paramore’s usual catchy lyrics, this time supported by a gospel choir! Ain’t It Fun is still yet to see a release as a single, however the band revealed early in December that they’d been recording a video for the song meaning that the release won’t be too far off! Brace yourselves, Ain’t It Fun is going to be everywhere!

Ain’t It Fun took the Jam of the Week crown in April 2013.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Jams over the past year. We’ll continue to bring you the very best in new music throughout 2014!
