One of the key things I set out to do when I started blogging again last year was to discover new and emerging talent in the music industry and publish their work for you all to hear. Now a few weeks ago I added the Submit Your Music page to my blog to help me do this. It’s a place where artists, labels and the like can send their music to me with the hope of one day appearing on my blog. Since then I’ve had a number of tracks sent to me, and as promised I’ve listened to every single one of them. In order to promote the talent I’m receiving I’ve come up with a fantastic new series of blog posts called New & Noteworthy. N&N will initially be published on the last day of every month and will hopefully be able to move to a bi-weekly slot towards the end of the year depending on the amount of submissions I receive. Enough of the rambling though, it’s time to showcase some new talent and I’ve got some brilliant music for you all to listen to.
Thomas J Speight – Willow Tree
My first track comes from an artist recommended by none other than Sir Paul McCartney. Thomas J Speight is a singer/songwriter from South West London who brings us a gorgeous track called Willow Tree. The song was produced by Tim Rice-Oxley and Jesse Quin (Mt Desolation and Keane) and praised by Ryan Adams for having a sound ‘so beautiful’. Thomas is definitely one to keep an eye on.
Let’s Go Safari – A Motorbike Called Life
The next band on my New & Noteworthy list are Let’s Go Safari. They’re an indie quartet from one of my favourite seaside towns, Bournemouth. Let’s Go Safari are currently made up of Ryan Wood (vocals), Clive Coats (guitar/ vocals), Oli Crisp (bass) and James Mosley (drums). The band signed to Red Dragon Records in 2012 and are set to release their début five track EP ‘Curiosity Killed…Let’s Go Safari’ on 28th April 2013 which I’m very much looking forward to. Here’s Let’s Go Safari’s video for A Motorbike Called Life.
I’m Called George – 49 Soda + A Bottle of Rum
I’m Called George are an Indie Electro band originally formed of George (guitar and vocals) and James (synth) in Buckinghamshire back in 2010. The group later shifted base to London and added Elmo (bass) and Connal (drums) to their lineup. This month the band released their début single 49 Soda + A Bottle of Rum on iTunes, a song which brilliantly showcases the band’s unique sound. I’m Called George are definitely a band to watch out for.
I’d like to thank all of the artists who have been in touch with me over the last few weeks. I hope you’ve all enjoyed reading my first ever New & Noteworthy post, I’ll be back next month with another. In the mean time if you want to see your music on my blog head over to the Submit Your Music page to get in contact with me.
