Justin Timberlake // Suit & Tie // Jam of the Week

Jam of the Week Banner

Earlier this week I wrote about Justin Timberlake’s long awaited return to the music industry and his brilliant little teaser video for his highly anticipated new release. You can watch the video below.

The wait is now finally over and today Justin revealed in an open letter to his fans (included below) that in June last year he started working on a new album which he’s calling The 20/20 Experience and we can expect it to drop at some point this year.

In the mean time Justin has left us with some brilliant new music. The track he’s left us to listen to is called Suit & Tie and it features a collaboration with none other than hip-hop’s finest Jay-Z. When I first heard the track I have to admit that the introduction had me wondering what the hell had happened to Justin and whether he’d lost that brilliant spark he had all those years ago, then the beat dropped and everything changed. Take a listen and you’ll see exactly what I mean.

The track is available to download exclusively via iTunes and I’m sure after hearing it you’ll be looking forward to The 20/20 Experience just as much as I am. As always I’d love to hear what you think, the comments section below is open for your reactions and I’m also on Twitter as @giloi

Now I often find picking my Jam of the Week quite difficult on weeks like this one when there’s just so much brilliant new music to choose from, and in fact you can expect a little feature on my blog later in the week about the track that narrowly missed out. I’ll be back next week with another Jam of the Week on Tuesday instead of Monday, all will be explained next week. For now however I’m going to leave you with Justin Timberlake’s open letter.

Justin Timberlake’s Open Letter

An Open Letter to you (the fans):

I hope this gets to you the right way. It’s the only way I know to do it. Some people may criticize me for the last 3 days. But it was fun, right?? Right?!?! Besides, I’d rather speak directly to all of you. And, who can knock me for having a little bit of fun with it?

Well… No more teasing. Although, it was A LOT of fun. (Did I mention that I’m having fun with this?? Ha!)

*Makes a serious face*

So, here goes:

This year is an exciting one for me. As you probably have heard through the “grapevine,” I’m gearing up for a big 2013.

Back in June of last year, I quietly started working on what is now, my next journey with that thing I love called MUSIC.

The inspiration for this really came out of the blue and to be honest, I didn’t expect anything out of it. I just went into the studio and started playing around with some sounds and songs. It was probably the best time I’ve had in my career… Just creating with no rules and/or end goal in mind and really enjoying the process.

What I came up with is something I couldn’t be more excited about! It is full of inspiration that I grew up listening to and some newfound muses that I’ve discovered along the way.

I’m calling it “The 20/20 Experience,” and it’s coming out this year.

I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it.

That’s all I’m giving you for now… I know, I know! Again, with the teasing!!!

Get ready. This is going to be fun (well, at least it is for me).
